Introduction

Nexus Careers is a bold, long-term initiative designed to close the growing career guidance gap for pharmacy graduates and early-career pharmacists. What started as the first-ever Pharmacy Nexus Career Fair at the 2024 PSGH Annual General Meeting has now evolved into a sustained movement to transform how pharmacists envision and build their careers.

The initiative is spearheaded by ASRPA, under the leadership of Prof. Priscilla K. Mante and co-led by Joel Kojo Abaka Anaman, with key collaborators including ECPG, Career Wheel, and Mande.

Why Nexus?

Each year, Ghana’s universities graduate over 500 pharmacy students, with about 350 becoming licensed pharmacists. However, job opportunities—particularly in the public sector—remain scarce. The last major recruitment wave by government institutions happened almost five years ago. This leaves many brilliant graduates without clear direction, mentorship, or the tools to navigate a complex job market.

The Nexus Careers Initiative exists to change that narrative by broadening awareness, diversifying options, and accelerating access to both traditional and non-traditional career pathways in pharmacy and related fields.

What We Do

Nexus is not just an event. It’s a career ecosystem.

We:

  • Curate immersive career events, including fairs, panels, and fireside chats.
  • Connect pharmacists to mentors and career guides in emerging and underserved fields.
  • Build a repository of resources — CV templates, interview prep kits, scholarship opportunities, and learning pathways.
  • Highlight success stories across diverse domains to fuel aspiration and possibility.
  • Conduct training programs and bootcamps to bridge skills gaps.
  • Develop data insights on pharmacy career trends, needs, and barriers in Ghana.

Who This Is For

  • Pharmacy students wondering “what’s next?”
  • Interns and early-career pharmacists seeking a path aligned with their skills and passion
  • Mid-career pharmacists exploring transitions or reinvention
  • Mentors and experts eager to give back and grow the field

Team Roles & Descriptions

We work across four core teams:

Marketing

Fuel awareness and excitement. Drive engagement across media channels, create compelling visuals and stories, and make sure the right people know what Nexus is doing—and why it matters.

Logistics

Make everything seamless. Plan event setups, manage space and supplies, and coordinate in-person experiences to ensure smooth execution.

Protocol

Be the bridge to our resource persons. Build relationships with mentors and career speakers, follow up with care and professionalism, and ensure they’re well-supported before, during, and after each event.

Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)

Measure what matters. Design smart ways to track engagement, collect feedback, assess outcomes, and capture the essence of each Nexus experience through data, photos, and participant insights.
